Covers

Blogger have once again changed the way they do things and I am having trouble trying to upload images in a presentable fashion. Can no longer work out how to put a few covers side by side. They're ending up in one long endless stream which annoys me. I haven't had the time to really sit down and focus but I'm starting to think it may be better to post my cover images through a web page.

Will have to have a think.

Welcome 2012

WOW! Can't believe my last post was in September last year. How time flies.

Well I guess I should start this post off with 'HAPPY NEW YEAR!!' Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year, ate lots, caught up with family and loved ones and most importantly stayed safe.

As you can see in my last post my lovely old cat Cooch was not well. I'm sad to say that we had to have him put down not long after. We miss him dearly and so does his brother, Rangi. We've buried him in the yard and planted an Apple tree beside him. Hubby even got a little plaque made up, which we've mounted on a rock.

Here lies Cooch 'Fatman'

Loved and Missed by Family

RIP big boy.

Now our latest news is that we've rescued two new kittens. They were advertised for free in the local paper. A farmer had 3 female cats dumped on his property and it turned out two of them were pregnant. I was surprised he kept the cats, but he said they were good 'ratters'. Anyway, he didn't want to be over-run with cats so he advertised the babies. He said he could have sent them to the RSPCA but thought, why make people pay for them. Still it probably would have been better for them, as they would have at least been vaccinated and desexed before being released on the world. Still I respect his kindness towards these little critters.

So welcome Gizmo and Maggie! And welcome Ringworm!! OMG who knew a couple of kittens could cause so much trouble. We were all covered in Ringworm (fungal skin condition) thanks to these little darlings. The kids were so bad they had to go on Medication. Hubby and I got bye with the Anti-fungal cream. But geez, talk about hard to get rid of.

Luckily my Vet lives just across the road and we were able to get them into the Clinic quick smart. Tableting two little kittens wasn't much fun, but we managed (after about 6 weeks!!) to clear it all up. Vaccinations and worming are all up to date and next on the agenda - De-sexing! Starting to think it would have been cheaper to get them from the RSPCA after all LOL!

Aaanyway ... COVERS! This should bring me up to date with the latest releases.

Spring, Cats and Covers

Well Spring has sprung here, Down Under. It's amazing how one day everything is dull and lifeless, and the next 'BAM' there are green buds on trees, plants seem to take on a life of their own and the grass gets it's groove on. I must admit it's been nice not having to mow every few days through the Winter months. But, Summer is on it's way and no doubt hubby and I will be sweating our butts off keeping the paddocks and yard under some semblance of control VERY soon :D

Mumma Plover has made a nest in the paddock right near the house yard. Every time we walk out the back door her and hubby start up their squawking. They've got the kids terrified LOL! Actually, it's kinda funny. My son takes great pains to irritate 'Sir Richard' the Rooster by running up and down the fence and getting Richard to chase him. Yet, he's afraid of the Plovers swooping him :D Personally, I'd be leaving the Rooster alone ;)

My lovely old cat, Cooch is getting on now. He's 12 years and has been diagnosed with Diabetes. So I'm needling him twice a day and monitoring his food. He went down hill quite quickly and was in the Vets for 3 days on a drip, due to being dehydrated. He's back with us now but I don't think for long. He's also in the throes of Renal Failure. He's been the best cat. I'm going to miss him when he goes. So in the mean-time he's being pampered and loved while he sends us into bankruptcy. Meanwhile, his brother, Rangi is getting bigger by the day. They've swapped roles as Cooch's nickname was Fatty. Now Rangi (Muffin)'s has earned the new nickname of Tank LOL!

Finally. COVERS!! It's been a stop and start couple of months with covers. I've managed to snag some work with a new publisher, but more on that another time. I feel like I've done a load of covers but with little to show for it. I usually wait for the Publisher to release the cover before I show it here, hence the long periods between posts :D

Anyway, here are the latest for Total-E-Bound ...

and Liquid Silver Books ...

That's it for this post. I'm off to tend my garden and plant my Lavenders :D

Cheers!

Covers and Lobotomy's

Well the month is almost over and I think I've caught up with my current covers *phew*! Just waiting on the go ahead for the last two and I'll have a couple of days breather until the next lot come in :D

Here's some of what I've been up to lately for Total-E-Bound ..

.. Liquid Silver Books ..

.. Red Sage Publishing ..

and last but not least, Lyrical Press ..

For some reason I've found myself doing a lot of Lobotomizing (head chopping) of late. It's a bit of work to make it look acceptable, and even then, those covers will ALWAYS jump out at me. They'll never look 100% right in my mind. Perhaps it's because I've spent time agonizing over subtle tonal differences or trying to get perspective and sizing right :D

I've also been experimenting with my font style and textures. I think I'm finally starting to get a feel for them. It's only taken 5 years!

Well that's about it from me. Thanks for dropping by!

Happy New Year!!

A belated Merry Christmas and New Year to you all. Can't believe another year is upon us.

I've had lots happening this last month or so, not only with covers but with life in general. We've finally moved house and are now settled (kinda) on our 5 acres. I'm slowly but surely getting my veggie patches up and running, and planted some beans and lettuces the other day. I'm planning on getting a good range of fruit and veg from the land here. A lot of work ahead of me but I think it will be very rewarding. Can't wait to get some chickens and the kids want some ducks LOL! I'm sure we'll have a menagerie of critters before we know it.

The kids will be starting a new school in a few weeks so that will be a bit trying, although they say they are looking forward to it. I must admit that I'll be looking forward to the peace and quiet LOL! Just can't concentrate on my covers when the kids are trying to kill each other ;)

Anyway, I'll finish up with most of my remaining covers from 2010.
